Thanks in large part to shortstop Paul DeJong, the Chicago CubSox beat the San Francisco Giants, 6-4. DeJong went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. Sean Manaea, the winning pitcher, is now 3-0. He went 6.2 innings, allowing 4 runs on 8 hits, while fanning 9 and walking 0. Ryan Loutos, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 4th save.
The CubSox got a big at-bat from left fielder Jacob Hurtubise. For the game, Hurtubise was 1 for 3 with a double and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 3rd double of the season gave Chicago a 6-4 lead.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Hurtubise.
The win has Chicago at 7-3.
