The Boston Red Sox faced a tough opponent in Charlotte pitcher JP Sears, but still scratched out a win at Oriole Park at Camden Yards by a final score of 4-3 in 10 innings. Sears went 7 innings and allowed 1 run. Boston reliever Jeff Hoffman snagged the win, upping his record to 1-0. Hunter Harvey shouldered the loss. The win gives Boston a record of 3-3.

The defining moment came in the bottom of the tenth for Boston. That's when Ben Rice hit a run-scoring double off fireballing right-hander Hunter Harvey to win the game. The home crowd went wild.

"It's nice to deliver when your team's counting on you," said Rice.
